Off-campus access problems to Business Source Complete and all other EBSCO databases

EBSCO are currently experiencing technical difficulties with off-campus access to all of their databases via Edugate.

As a temporary measure, please do the following when accessing any EBSCO database (e.g. Business Source Complete, Communications and Mass Media Complete, Academic Search Complete) from off-campus:
  1.  Go to http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&AuthType=shib
  2.
From the Select your region or group dropdown box, choose Irish Edugate federation.

3.
Choose Dublin Institute of Technology from the Irish Edugate Federation list.

4. Log in as usual at the Logon to DIT Services screen.

5.
This will bring you in to the search page for Academic Search Complete. Next, click on the Choose Databases link above the search box.

6.
Business students should tick Business Source Complete in the list of databases.

Media and Journalism students should tick Communication and Mass Media Complete in the list.

EBSCO is continuing to work on a permanent (and better!) solution to this problem

On-campus access is working fine.

Postgraduate Room – Silent Study Area

Thanks to all of you who answered the Postgraduate Room survey.  We are currently analysing your responses, but first want to address an issue that many of you have raised: noise levels in the Postgraduate Room.
The majority of people who responded to the survey expressed a desire for the room to be a quiet study area.  We will put up signs to this effect so that all users of the room are aware of the need to be quiet.
Postgraduate students who want to work in groups still have the option of using one of the library’s eight group study rooms.
We hope that letting everyone know that the room is intended to be a quiet study room will solve any problems of noise in the room. If you need help from the library staff, however, please just let us know.
