Arrow@TU Dublin change of email

Due to the TU Dublin email migration project, all Arrow account holders are asked to change their email address in their accounts. You can do this by going to:

1. My Account, 
2. Log in, 
3. Edit Profile, 
4. Insert your new TU Dublin email 
5. Select Update. 

Initially, this will create 2 accounts for the one name but ITC Support is in the process of merging TU Dublin and DIT Accounts.  Under GDPR only the account holder can amend the profile.

Looking for a New Year's Resolution? Try This Simple Step to Preserve your Publications and Help to Increase your Citations

Did you know that in the vast majority of cases, when you contract with a publisher to publish your article in a specific journal, the publisher then holds the copyright to the published article?

This means that you, the author, have no rights over the published article, and can only access it if you or your institution have a subscription to the journal. Furthermore, the publisher is under no obligation to preserve your article in the long term.

What can you do?

First, you should always keep the Author's Final Version of your article. This is the final version, following the review process, that you send to the publisher, i.e. the last version before the publisher's formatting etc. is applied.

Secondly, deposit the Author's Final Version in Arrow@DIT, DIT's Institutional Repository. Most publishers will allow you to "self-archive" the Author's Final Version in Arrow, as long as you provide the citation to the published version. Any item that you submit to Arrow is kept in a holding area until library staff have verified that the publisher's policy permits deposit of the Author's Final Version in Arrow.

Arrow is an archive of DIT's research, so uploading your publications to Arrow ensures their preservation.

There's also some evidence that depositing publications in institutional repositories can help to increase their citations - another reason to make sure that you've deposited your work in Arrow!

Daire Hooper, Joe Coughlan and Michael Mullen's Journal Article in Top 3 Most Downloaded from Arrow in October

Daire Hooper,  Joe Coughlan and Michael Mullen's article entitled Structural Equation Modelling: Guidelines for Determining Model Fit, which was published in the Electronic Journal of Business Research Methods in 2008, ranked among the top three most frequently downloaded article in Arrow this October, with 999 downloads during the month.
Arrow is DIT's institutional repository.

Institutional Repositories (IRs) bring together all of an institution's research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research.
Institutional Repositories are an excellent vehicle for working papers or copies of published articles and conference papers. Presentations, senior theses, and other works not published elsewhere can also be published in Arrow.
Arrow is part of the Digital Commons Network of Institutional Repositories - a network of 368 university repositories worldwide. During October, DIT was among the most popular institutions in the Business Commons disciplines of Business Law, Public Responsibility, and Ethics and Human Resources Management.

Invitation to the launch of RIAN - Ireland's portal to Open Access research publications

The Irish University Association is inviting interested parties to attend the launch of RIAN, Ireland's portal to Open Access research publications on Wednesday, 20th October, 1.30pm - 4pm in the Convention Centre Dublin.

RIAN harvests content from Open Access institutional repositories in all seven Irish universities and DIT. For the first time, Irish research will be made freely available on a worldwide scale. It is the outcome of a project which was managed by the IUA Librarians' Group, supported by the IUA, and funded through the Strategic Innovation Fund.

ResearchScope from WIT

Take a look at an exciting new index from Waterford Institute of Technology Libraries. ResearchScope is a full-text, searchable index of all open-access research in Ireland. Searching is easy through a single user interface and the index includes the research repositories of DIT (ARROW), NUI Galway (ARAN), NUI Cork (CORA), DCU (DORAS), NUI Maynooth, UCD, TCD (TARA) and WIT itself. The massive Irish Health Repository (LENUS) is also included. Congratulations to all involved at WIT.

ARROW hits 1,000!

ARROW@DIT - the DIT online research repository now hosts just over 1,000 DIT research papers online. This is an amazing achievement for a project that is less than one year old. Managed by DIT Library Services, ARROW has had 19,217 full text downloads since it began. Content includes articles, conference papers, theses, case studies, datasets and reports. Images can also be catered for. All uploads are mediated by library staff to ensure that copyright is not infringed.
