SCONUL Access Scheme - Changes to Procedures
Posted by
Israel Chidavaenzi
SCONUL Access Scheme is ONLY open to DIT staff and research postgraduate students.
New Procedures:
From now on, eligible DIT users (staff and research postgraduates) will have to apply online for membership. They will receive an e-mail confirmation that they have been accepted. This e-mail confirmation replaces the current SCONUL card, and can be used in the same way. Holders of the current SCONUL card may still get access to some libraries, but it is at the discretion of the local library. It is likely that they will no longer be accepted once the coming academic year starts.
The information on the library website has been updated, see HERE
Further information on the scheme can be found on the SCONUL Access website

As part of the upgrading work being done on Emerald database, please note all user profiles are frozen until the revamped database is launched after Saturday 16th, August. This is to enable existing profile data to be migrated to the new platform. During this time, you will be unable to make edits to your profile, settings and preferences.
For guidance regarding the above actions, plus additional detail regarding other functional changes, such as marked lists and saved searches, please visit Frequently Asked Questions.

Referencing Problems? Try Endnote Basic
Working on your dissertation and finding it hard to keep track of your references? Endnote Basic
provides a free tool allowing you to store up to 50,000
references online (should be enough to cover the average dissertation!)
and a plug-in which inserts references and formats citations and
bibliographies automatically while you write your dissertation in Word.
The library has a guide to using Endnote Basic and also offers classes on using Endnote.
To organise a class, send us a message via the Ask a Librarian form or drop in and talk to one of the librarians.
