Current users are definitely enthusiastic about its merits!

Aungier St. Library goes Electronic!

The Library now has a policy of purchasing e-texts where they are available, the price is right and especially when multiple copies of a text are required. Our current provider is Coutts who run the MyiLibrary system. We will initially purchase a 3 simultaneous-user license for each title. When a title is being used by 3 people concurrently and a 4th. person logs in - Coutts will not prevent this access. However, if a title is continuously being accessed over the license limit, Coutts will advise the library and we will have the option of increasing to a 5-user license or higher. Four new titles recently received are:

> Flagship marketing: concepts and places / Tony Kent and Reva Brown.
> Fundamentals of Strategy / Gerry Johnson.
> The DNA of customer experience: how emotions drive value / Colin Shaw.
> Marketing management and strategy / Peter Doyle.

These are all available on the catalogue just like their hardcopy equivalents. Take a look and let us know what you think. We would really appreciate your feedback.

Ethos - electronic doctoral theses

Ethos is a new service from the British Library which offers researchers from all over the world a single point of access to UK doctoral theses. The service currently holds 250,000 records some dating back to the 1600s with 111 UK Universities participating to date. Users can search the database without registering. To download or order a thesis to be digitised, however, registration is necessary. The system harvests theses from open access institutional repositories so many of the theses are available free of charge. If a participating institution has not made their theses available electronically, they will be digitised and, at the moment, can take up to 30 days to receive. Cost of digitisation is usually borne by the institution but, in some cases, may have to be accepted by the individual requester. Theses are normally available as pdf files but can also be ordered on CD/DVD for an extra charge. Ethos can be found at ethos.bl.uk. M.Phil theses can still be ordered through the library's Inter-Library Loan Service.
